Entrecolinas

I used the newly built Entrecolinas Gatehouse as a base for a week of exploring inland and riding the cycle trails. It was a great choice. The gatehouse is tucked away from the main house by a very quiet road, and I was only its second guest. It's small, about 8m X 5m, but ideal for two, with everything needed to cook and a good modern shower. There's no air conditioning or heating, but the thick walls meant that wasn't a problem. It feels like arriving at your own holiday home. There are plenty of power points, a little fold-away kitchen table, towels and shampoo, plus oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. It's bed only, so breakfast isn't included. You can use the main house pool and terrace, and the gatehouse also has its own sunny terrace and hammock. The lovely hosts and Kibaut, the dog, will see me again soon.

We needed a new place after a really bad experience with a B&B in central Olhao. I found this one, and they managed a same-day check-in with just two hours' notice, which felt very professional. Kurt greeted us along with a big, lovely dog. The rooms and interior were great, and the view as you come in is lovely. You can tell they put care into breakfast, too. We've stayed at our share of B&Bs, and this is one of the best for the price. Thanks, Annick and Kurt.

We only had a brief visit, but the setting is wonderfully placed among hills, a little river and tiny villages. It felt like a real paradise for walking.

The people running the place are kind and ready to help. It's a cosy little hidden gem, tucked into beautiful surroundings.
