Orange Terrace Hostel

We had a great time at this lovely hostel. The rooms are nice, and the beds have curtains. There's a rooftop bar and a seating area upstairs, and everything is painted and decorated really nicely. The staff are super friendly and helpful.

I only stayed one night, but the guests were great fun, and of course we went out. The staff were lovely too, especially Nikolaj and Inge. Amazing people. The bar was great, and the showers and toilets were nice. I'd stay here again if I came back to Albufeira.

The hosts were so rude and noisy that they could win an award for it. I've stayed in budget hostels, homestays, and even jungle huts, but never had hosts who seemed so allergic to basic manners. Forget a peaceful morning. Staff started gossiping outside the rooms at sunrise, like a fish market full of mops. We paid to sleep, not to listen to breakfast drama before the 11 a.m. checkout. The room beside reception costs extra, yet it puts you front row to all the chaos. The cleaner seemed to think housekeeping meant nonstop chit-chat, then came in and took my bedsheet and pillow before checkout. Ma'am, who trained you, Voldemort? They wouldn't allow early check-in or late checkout. Using the terrace or even a bathroom before check-in was out of the question too. Apparently a paying guest can't expect basic humanity. They treated guests like trespassing aliens. The short-haired cleaning girl was the last straw. I asked her for directions, just a basic question, and she said, “I'm not working right now,” then turned away. Five-star arrogance on a zero-star salary. That's not hospitality, just rudeness in a uniform. This isn't a hostel, it's a live example of how not to run one, and a blot on the tourism sector, an anti-advertisement for portugal hospitality. When Generator or Room00 opens next door with real service and courtesy, it'll be poetic justice to watch guests walk right past this door. It felt less like a hostel and more like a refugee camp run by people who hate guests. We pay for respect, quiet, and dignity, not charity or favors. This place clearly can't afford those three things.

The location was ideal, close to public transport and major attractions, and the common areas were especially cozy and well kept. I had a great stay. The staff were warm, friendly, and always willing to help. My room was clean, comfortable, and well organized, and there was a lovely social atmosphere for meeting other travelers. I'd definitely recommend it and would love to return.
