Getting around on foot was easy, even to the old town, which is about 30 minutes away. If you want to see more, I’d probably rent a car. There are several shops around a 10-15 minute walk away, including a supermarket, Aldi and Intermarché. The cleaning staff came almost every day, though mostly to change towels. That was fine for me since I can make my own bed. The bigger problem was the WiFi. I needed to study, but couldn’t get online in my room or anywhere on the hotel grounds. It connected briefly and dropped again, and even WhatsApp wouldn’t work. I asked at reception several times, but they just told me to wait until the next day. From day three, renovation work started and woke me at 7 a.m. Workers moved furniture, sang loudly and drilled. The room itself was basic and dated, and I sometimes found ants in the bathroom. You need to bring your own sponge and dish soap, and there’s no tea or coffee, though that wasn’t much of an issue with shops nearby. I arrived early in the morning, and the receptionist wasn’t very friendly. Maybe it was because I started speaking Spanish and switched to English, but she didn’t seem very service-oriented. I booked this place because I wanted a little break and a mental detox, but I’m not sure I’d return. It’s okay for a short getaway, but it was disappointing. If you need reliable WiFi and peace and quiet, I probably wouldn’t come back.
