Sun Lovers Hostel

The roof terrace, pool and friendly social atmosphere were highlights. The facilities were all good, and the hostel is in a really good spot. Staff were sociable and accommodating, and communication about bookings and deposits was amazing.

The receptionist was really nice, but the rest of the stay had some rough parts. In April the rooftop was pretty dead, and although people seemed keen to meet, the hostel layout made that hard. The toilets and two showers are all in one room for the whole floor, so if someone's using a toilet, you can't shower, and vice versa. The bed, sheets and room also smelled a bit. The entrance door slams so loudly it feels like an earthquake. I honestly don't understand why it hasn't been fixed. It's so annoying and literally kept me from sleeping. If you go to bed early, everyone coming back from parties will wake you.

I spent a few days here in the first week of September, and the staff were always kind and helpful. I had trouble because I didn't have cash, and they helped me out. They regularly arrange pool games and pub crawls, so meeting people is easy. There's a big, fully equipped kitchen for guests too. The hostel is on a quiet road, about a 6-7 minute walk from the beach, so it's a good spot if you want to rest instead of party. There's a rooftop restaurant as well. Its prices are cheap compared with the Albufeira average, and the food is not bad. I'd suggest it if you like grilled meat. One small thing: bring your own shampoo or shower gel, since those weren't topped up as often as the toilet paper. If I come back to Albufeira, I'll book here again. No reason to stay elsewhere :)

The rooftop pool was beautiful, and Yoandry was amazing. The entertainment was brilliant, especially the fun karaoke. Drinks tasted great too. Everyone was so friendly, and I met some amazing people. Best hostel I've stayed in. I'm so sad to leave, but I'll definitely be back.
