Vilanova Resort

This might suit a stag or hen group, or a lads' or lasses' drinking holiday. I wouldn't recommend it to families or older couples. They charge a €50 per person deposit for the room, and the rooms are very outdated. The complex is run down, and reception just shrugged when I complained, as if they didn't care. I stayed in a villa where the front door wouldn't open properly. The balcony door was so decrepit I thought it might break every time I opened it. Its only lock was a flimsy bolt that wasn't screwed into the wood properly. The table had chunks missing from its corners, and the balcony chairs looked ready to snap. I only saw a maid once, on the afternoon we arrived. She did nothing except try to empty an already empty bin. I had to take our rubbish outside the complex myself. I understand the beds are only changed once a week, but nobody even came in to make them or clean the room. Our footprints stayed on the floor from the first day. The villa stairs are narrow and slippery, so I wouldn't recommend one if you're unsteady on your feet. I don't know how they can run the hotel this way. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The staff were genuinely helpful and friendly, and I'd come back in a heartbeat, though I'd stay for 10 days to two weeks next time. We spent a week there from 19th August 2017, two adults and children aged 7 and 3. Block 3 was quiet, with what seemed like mostly middle-aged couples. Block 1 looked livelier in some rooms, but nothing too wild. Our room was dated, but it had everything we needed: a fridge freezer, cooker and oven, kettle, toaster, microwave, pots, pans, cups, plates, cutlery, its own water heater, a working fan, and a TV. The hotel is on the strip, and the beach is a 10-minute walk away, down a steep hill.

Not really a place for families. I'm here with my partner, and the apartment is large, with a huge balcony facing the pool and extensive gardens. It's quiet most of the time, especially in blocks 1 and 2. Everything is close by, including bars and food. The strip gets very busy with hen and stag groups, but we had no trouble. We stayed near the top end, and Kings Cross pub was perfect for sitting in the sun with a beer.

The place was filthy and badly maintained, and the lift was broken. I was staying on the fourth floor. The beds felt like concrete blocks, and all around were loud bars and drunk teenagers and young adults. The holiday brochure pictures were misleading. The bar food seemed suited to people so drunk they wouldn't know what they were eating. Stag and hen groups had taken over the place. I wouldn't give it even one star. If you have any standards, this isn't the place for you. Even the taxi driver said it wasn't the best place. Holiday from hell!
