The pool was the highlight for us. It's roughly 10 by 5 metres, I think, and a little over 2 metres deep at the deepest end. In the hot weather we spent loads of time swimming to cool off. There's sun on the pool area all day, with no nearby shadows, though three umbrellas are available if you want some shade. There are also several cushioned sunbeds. The villa is spacious and only a few minutes' walk from Guia's centre, while still feeling very private. Across the two buildings are four bedrooms and three bathrooms: the main house has a double room, a twin room and two bathrooms, while the other building has two twin rooms sharing one bathroom. The kitchen has plenty of equipment, but no standard oven, just a small tabletop one that was a bit hit and miss. We made good use of the barbecue area instead. There's a washing machine and washing lines too, and in the heat clothes dry quickly. We did a load before heading home, which was nice after the holiday laundry pile. Parking out front is plentiful, although uncovered, so the car gets very hot. One small disappointment was that the balcony with views over Guia mentioned in the listing is now closed off because solar panels have been installed on the rooftop balcony. We were there during Guia's Chicken festival. It runs for four nights, with loud music until around 2am that rattles the windows and shutters. Lots of people also parked in the villa driveway during the festival. Neither issue bothered us too much, but they're worth knowing about. It's a fantastic place, and being able to walk into Guia while still having privacy around the pool made it one of the best villas I've stayed in. We'd definitely return. Can't recommend it enough!

You can get to the sand and sea in about an eight-minute drive from this clean, well-equipped villa, which also has internet. It worked well for us as a base. You'll need a vehicle to explore the wider area, though you could spend a week trying a different restaurant each night if you wanted. The town is known for its very nice Piri Piri chicken.

Be very careful. The security guards and owners come into the house without warning at night, and in the morning they entered while I was asleep for no reason. I left my wallet with €100 inside, then came back 30 minutes later and the money was gone. The owner was there with my wallet, taking photos of my credit card and ID. The service and security are nonexistent.
