We stayed at Villa Baltin over New Year with family and friends, and the open living, dining and kitchen area made it easy to fit nine people around dinner. The kitchen had all the equipment we needed, and the large TV with Chromecast let us watch our own channels and films. The villa is spacious, with four big bedrooms and three bathrooms, two recently renovated, plus air conditioning in every room. There’s also a garage set up as a playroom with bunk beds. We had two cars and there was room to park both. It’s a peaceful area, with lovely beaches about a 10-minute walk away. In around 10 minutes by car or a cheap Uber, you can get to Albufeira, Algarve Shopping mall, golf, tennis, restaurants and more beaches. The pool is large, with plenty of sun loungers, and you can reach it from the living room. We asked for it to be heated to 26 degrees Celsius, which I’d recommend at that time of year. The BBQ area connects directly to the kitchen, which was handy. We really liked the villa and the area, and would come back.

We arrived on Thursday for a week and are here now, 2/9/19. The villa is clean, though a bit dated. Mosquitoes have bitten us badly, but I know that can’t be helped. Getting around with Uber is cheap and works well, though you’ll need a taxi or a car. The constant barking from dogs in nearby rental properties has made it feel like staying in animal kennels. There’s nowhere to relax with all the noise, and it’s really spoiled the holiday. I called management yesterday. James villa did contact the letting agent for one property to ask them to help, but nothing has changed. I feel bad for James villa because there’s only so much they can do, but I wanted to warn others.

The dogs around the nearby villas bark loudly and constantly, and the mosquitoes were awful too. We got bitten all over, so bring plenty of repellent and keep doors and windows shut. The place feels a bit in the middle of nowhere, and I’d say you definitely need a car, or you’ll need taxis to get anywhere. We also had a bad experience with the service. The maid came in after I’d counted our money, then left very quickly with it. I reported it, but nothing happened. It was a bit of a nightmare, even though the weather was sunny.

The pool was cool, and it was easy to get to several beaches. The house itself is rather old. The outdoor fireplace wasn’t much use for grilling, and smoke came into the house through the indoor fireplace.
