Villa Monte das Oliveiras V3 S o Rafael

The villa itself was lovely: clean, well equipped, with a great pool and a handy location. The beach was about a 10-minute walk, bars and restaurants about 5 minutes away, and there were mini-markets nearby. Lidl was roughly a 10-minute drive, while the marina was a 20-minute walk or a short taxi ride. We stayed from 6th July to 13th July 2024. What spoiled it for us was the noise. There are two villas being built across the road, about 15 meters away, and the banging, drilling, grinding and machinery started right at 8am on weekdays and carried on until around 6pm. Large overhead cranes were sometimes left parked over the villa. We were woken every weekday and couldn't properly relax by the pool. The neighbouring villa also had three dogs loose in the garden from around 6am, barking for much of the day, apparently in response to the construction. It felt like noise was coming from both sides. Once the work is finished, perhaps in a year's time, this could be perfect, but right now it's hard to unwind on holiday. The villa company should have told us, as knowing this would definitely have made us reconsider spending around £2,500 for a week. We also weren't given the alarm code. Sorting it out after we set off the VERY loud alarm took some effort. Another daily annoyance was having to close the electric window and door shutters whenever we left. For taxis, Bolt was cheap for us with a 50% deduction applied. Pros: lovely, clean villa, great facilities, close to what you need. Cons for now: weekday construction and the neighbours' dogs.
