W Residences Algarve

The final straw was at checkout, when just €45 of my €300 deposit was returned. They had added charges I disputed, including Wi-Fi, which is complimentary, and corrected them only after I strongly protested. Separately, €711.54 was blocked on my forex card without my consent as an “authorisation,” despite the €300 cash deposit and being told only £0.01 would be charged. Even after I paid all bills and checked out, the block remained and caused major financial trouble during my trip. The half-board terms also felt misrepresented: it was limited to €50 pp, dinner only, and couldn't be swapped for lunch. Staff repeatedly refused my requests for flexibility, in a manner I found arrogant. My booking was fully paid for four guests, but they showed it as valid for only two. After I showed proof, they called giving me what I had already paid for a goodwill “extension.” My stay at W Algarve from 25-28 Sept 2025 was filled with what I experienced as harassment, misinformation, and improper charges. For a Marriott/W property, this was unacceptable and a disgraceful experience. I strongly warn other travelers to avoid it; it did not live up to the Marriott name.

The residence pool was a handy alternative whenever the main pool got crowded. Our apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed, which made the holiday easier, and room service was excellent. Paper Moon was a lovely dining experience, and staff also shared local tips that helped us discover more of Algarve's hidden gems. The team were some of the friendliest and best trained I've met in hospitality. I had one of the best holidays of my life at W Residences. Calling it fantastic doesn't do the hotel or its staff justice.

I made a booking with airline miles, but there was a mixup and I couldn't stay at the property. The hotel refused to adjust the amount and kept almost $4000 worth of miles, even after my airline rewards program tried to persuade them to issue a refund. Don't expect support if you need to change or adjust a reservation. I feel they ripped me off.

Paper Moon was my favorite of the restaurants, and breakfast at the property was great too. The rooms were modern and spacious, with views of the ocean and pool. The staff were very friendly and took care of all our needs with a smile. The property is beautiful, and this was one of my best hotel experiences. It's one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed in, and I'll absolutely come back.
