Camping Canelas

We had a great three-night stay with our two-year-old daughter. I wasn’t sure what to expect since it was my first time camping abroad, especially whether it would be quiet at night. It was: most of the campsite settled down before midnight, and many guests were families or retired people. There’s a DJ at the central bar every night, playing different kinds of music with a fun summer feel. People join in, and I really enjoyed it. One downside is that there’s no toilet paper, and the toilets have no seats, so you sit directly on the ceramic. I hope they sort that out. Still, we had a fantastic time and are sure we’ll come back.

What stood out most was how peaceful and friendly everyone was. Staff and guests greeted each other, and things never got loud. In September the campground wasn’t crowded at all, and the Wi-Fi worked the whole time. The bathrooms and showers stayed spotless and were usually empty, probably because there are three large sanitary blocks. The three pools and their surroundings were beautiful and seemed brand new, with palm trees adding to the view. There were also several barbecues for guests to use. A 10/10 stay for us.

We picked a pitch away from the main road, and it was quiet. You can choose your own spot. There’s a café and restaurant on site, and the staff were really friendly. The facilities, including the showers and toilets, aren’t new, but they’re fine and get cleaned regularly. The bins were taken care of too.

It was quiet, and the facilities were clean and spacious. Being able to choose where to pitch our tent was a nice touch. There are two pools, plus a bar, restaurant, and mini market, so it’s easy to settle in. We had a good stay overall.
