Casa Godinho

I booked a room, but when I arrived, someone else was already staying in it. They said there had been a booking mix-up. The owner, with little concern, hurriedly took us somewhere else. It was more expensive and didn’t even have a room for all the days we’d booked. We were treated like leftovers, as if we had nowhere else to go. Really awful.

I spent the night cold because the room was very chilly and they never switched on the heater. There wasn't any soap, either. I asked five times just to get a cup of tea. For 60 euros, this was the worst experience. The facilities list a washing machine and kitchen, but I wasn't allowed to use either. At checkout it was still raining, and she yelled at me to leave. I went out and got soaked.

The pool and its small surrounding area only get sun from 11 to 4. Cleaning was very superficial, the kitchen cloths were dirty and smelled musty, and the dishes in the cupboard were dirty too. Breakfast was included in the stay but wasn't provided. I wouldn't recommend it.

The place is very peaceful, and I really enjoyed the house for a few days in S. Martinho do Porto. The hosts, Godinho, were kind and attentive, and the room was clean and tidy. There's a pool, and the house looks very presentable. GPS got us there easily, with a few places to park. The internet signal was weak, but good enough to manage. Breakfast was simple and very good. I'd recommend it and hope to return someday.
