Almancil Hostel

I was shocked to see the parrot shivering in the morning on a balcony, exposed to the cold and weather. Its cage was filthy and neglected, and the bird seemed to be left completely alone, without a companion or attention from anyone at the hotel. Birds like this need care and social contact. The hotel should make sure it’s properly looked after or move it somewhere suitable. These conditions need to be dealt with immediately. Treating a living creature this way is unacceptable.

The kitchens had pretty much everything we needed, and everyone made us feel at home. It was our first hostel stay and we had a great time. Everything was very clean and comfortable, and we’d love to come back. Thanks to everyone for the care and hard work 😊 We also took a recommendation to visit Lagoa, and it was amazing 🤩

The suites are quiet and nicely furnished, and you can eat on the terrace or at the restaurant in the same building, which belongs to the hostel owner. The owner also runs a taxi service, with airport transfers costing 25 €. Bus 9 between Faro and Quarteira stops just 150 m away. Manager Dalida speaks fluent English, is very helpful, and allowed us to check in outside the usual hours.

We had a private suite with its own bathroom, which worked well for an overnight stop when we were out on the road all day. The only thing missing from the room was a small fridge.
