Cheerfulway Clube Brisamar

The apartments are huge, lovely, cool, functional, and clean. They’re a real bargain, even if a little dated. There’s plenty of parking, the staff are friendly, and housekeeping was prompt and went above and beyond. It’s an easy 15-minute walk into town. I’d definitely come back. Very happy with the stay.

We’re staying next door at the lovely Pelican Alvor, and walked over to the Brismar, where we’d stayed before. It was sad to see how run down it’s become. There are no pools, restaurant, shops, or reception. Obviously it’s gone out of business.

The stay was fine at first, and you get what you pay for, but our apartment was broken into and robbed on the last night. It was terrifying. Thankfully none of us girls were there when it happened, but when we returned, things were missing from our room, mostly makeup bags, clothes, designer trainers, and electronics. At least nobody’s passport was taken. I couldn’t believe this had happened. I told the front desk, and they said there was nothing they could do because there are no security cameras on the premises. That’s very worrying. I felt the incident wasn’t taken seriously at all, and I absolutely believe they didn’t care because we were foreigners and knew we’d be going home. A terrible experience. Avoid booking here.

The rooms were clean, the staff were nice, and we had a very good stay overall. The all-inclusive food was quite basic, and as a lacto-ovo vegetarian I found there wasn’t much to choose from. Two nights before we left, the air conditioning in our room broke and was never fixed. It reached 26° at night, far too hot for us. Aside from that, we had a really good stay.
