Casa da Torre

We were especially touched by the welcome from Lucinda, the landlady. After arriving hungry and tired at about 10:30 pm, we found water and Vinho Verde in the fridge, along with bread, biscuits, homemade jam, coffee, tea, and a little carafe of port. There was even a handwritten note waiting for us. We're already thinking about returning next year. Casa da Torre sits on a steep street in Amarante's old town. The area used to feel somewhat run-down, but the old houses have since been rescued. Our apartment and bathroom were very clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the terrace looking out over the greenery. For somewhere so central, it's surprisingly quiet: the city center is barely five minutes away, with plenty of shops nearby. There's a restaurant on the street and a bar by the Tamega River that young people like, but we hardly noticed either. The street ends at the river, so there is very little traffic.

The service was excellent, and the place was cozy and clean. Great location, with a river beach nearby and free parking.

We loved our little home away from home! It's practical and just a short walk from Amarante's historic center. The welcome was so friendly, and we got some lovely little treats too 🥰

We're still here at Casa da Torre, and I'm loving our stay. Thanks for everything.
