The pool is spacious and lovely, and there’s table tennis and billiards too. It’s a peaceful, pleasant place to stay, especially for families with children. Breakfast was really nice, the kitchen is fully equipped for guests to use, and the managers are very friendly. I’d only suggest adding a mini-fridge to each room. I think that would be really practical and useful. Five stars from me.

The quiet and the swimming pool made for a wonderful holiday. We stayed for three weeks while exploring northern Portugal and were very happy with our accommodation. The manor house is magnificent, and they treated us like royalty. Great value for money.

The regional Portuguese cooking was above average in quality, with dishes prepared about as well as expected. The oven-baked octopus is a standout, and the veal surprised me in a good way. Nothing particularly memorable among the desserts. The region’s vinho verde wines are very good, especially Socalcos do Bouro, a fresh, fruity young white.

The peaceful, welcoming feel of the manor and its fabulous pool made a lovely setting. D. Filomena and her husband welcomed us with so much kindness and professionalism that I felt right at home. I’m very grateful for what they gave us. I’ll definitely be back, and I wholeheartedly recommend Solar de Salvadura. A big kiss to D. Filomena and her husband, and thank you. Sandra Aroso
