Azores Book Hotel

The rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and breakfast was really tasty with several vegetarian choices. We also enjoyed the pool, hot tub and sauna, and I borrowed a book from the library during our stay. The staff were kind and helped us figure out our time in Terceira. My husband and I really enjoyed staying here, and I've already recommended the hotel to friends.

The hotel's character comes from an 18th-century building, with 40 rooms. The front desk and service were very responsive, and there was a welcome snack in our room. The bed, sheets and pillows were comfortable, the air conditioning was easy to use, and the rain shower was nice and big. Umbrellas were available too. Breakfast was very good, with local pastries, charcuterie, cheese and other options, plus a Nespresso machine for different coffees. There's a small pool, hot tub, sauna and shower, and free parking on site. The top of the building has a great view of the ocean and surroundings. Downtown is within walking distance, about 20 minutes, where parking is difficult. Since we had an early flight, they packed us a lunch to go. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:30. A few things could be better: the room plugs were euro-only, it was hard to find the pool and hot tub because they weren't marked, and pool towels were at the front desk across the yard from the pool building. Still, we were very happy with our three-night stay.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've had, with local fruit, crisp bacon and fabulous breads. The rooms are comfortable and modern, the staff couldn't have been more accommodating, and the historic building has an outdoor heated pool. There are books everywhere and literary references throughout. It's close enough to walk into Angra, making this a gorgeous and convenient choice. Nothing to improve!

You'll be happy staying here. The rooms, staff, pool, hot tub and steam room were all excellent, and the breakfast they offer is incredible. One of the best places to stay!
