The pool was excellent and the view unmatched. We loved spending evenings under the stars on the terrace, and the house was cozy and clean. Rui Leal helped us find plenty of nice places and restaurants nearby. We spent 7 wonderful days there with our two kids in summer 2015, and would go back. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is that Casa da Piscina needs some work inside. It's showing its age, and I told Rui, who knows about it. Otherwise, we had an amazing, peaceful time at Casas de Alem, with stunning views over Gerês. Rui was always available to help and suggest things to explore. Gerês is one of my favourite places in Portugal, and staying here let me enjoy it again with my family. I'd definitely return and recommend Casas de Alem.

Rui, the owner, shared loads of local information and even walked with us in the national Park. We had a most enjoyable stay in a beautiful location, in a cozy little house that was well equipped. Highly recommended.

The pool has a spectacular view of the mountains and sits in a garden with barbecue equipment. The houses are beautiful, fit naturally into their surroundings, and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were there for two nights in May, and the central heating would be especially useful in the colder months. Sr. Rui welcomed us warmly and was very attentive while we were there. He also gave us tips on good restaurants and things to do in the area. Thanks for having us, we'll be back!
