Hotel Sao Pedro – Arouca

We spent one night here before hiking the Paiva trails the next morning. The staff were friendly, and the room was comfortable. It’s centrally located in the quaint town of Arouca. We’d have stayed longer if our itinerary had allowed it, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone travelling through the region.

I stayed for two nights in a room with two single beds. It was modern and comfortable, with enough room to move around, and the bathroom was large, though it lacked some little luxuries. The hotel is well located in the town, even if the entrance isn't particularly grand, and the welcome was warm. I had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. Breakfast was what you’d expect from a 3-star hotel, with everything you need except the less healthy bacon and eggs :) Lunch and dinner were served to our group rather than à la carte, but there was plenty of tasty food. You can't judge the hotel just by its four walls, since it's only half the experience of Arouca and its surroundings. Still, anyone staying just one night should leave satisfied. Arouca itself can't compare with the metropolitan cities of Lisboa or Porto, but Hotel S. Pedro makes staying in town worthwhile.

A good spot in a charming town, and the room was clean and decent, though pretty Spartan. The bed was hard, small and low to the ground, the shower tiny and the towels thin.

The rooms were clean and quiet, and the staff were nice. Breakfast was very nice for a 3-star hotel. Good value for the price.
