Hotel João Capela

I stayed here for four or five nights while visiting a company in Vagos. The building looked as if it hadn’t been invested in since around 1985. Breakfast quality was okay. On my first night, about 30 young people arrived. Noise until 10 pm was understandable, but their party went on until 2 am. In the middle of the night, they knocked on doors and ran between rooms, including mine, and I stayed awake the rest of the night. I complained to reception, but nothing was done. The hotel also charged me for the full stay even though I cancelled one night in advance. Their response was not very communicative. I strongly discourage anyone from staying here. I also suggested my company remove it from the list of potential hotels for employees, and they’ve already done so.

We booked at the last minute and this place turned out to be a nice surprise. David at the desk was friendly and easy to chat with. The room was clean and tidy, and there was a complimentary breakfast buffet in the dining room before we headed out.

The hotel felt cosy, and I was looked after really well by a Brazilian staff member. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Breakfast was simple but good enough. There isn't a minibar.

The staff were awesome, and breakfast was good too. The room has an old-fashioned feel but was really good, while the outside of the hotel looks lovely.
