Urban Suites

We only stayed briefly at Urban suites in Aveiro, after finding what we believed was a bedbug on the wall behind the bed around 11 at night. There were also lots of black dots on the sheets that looked like bedbug droppings. We wouldn't sleep there, so we went out and booked another hotel in the middle of the night, Hotel Aveiro center❤. The location was acceptable, I guess, but the room was nasty and the staff were unpleasant. We tried both phone numbers Urban suites provided, but nobody answered. In the morning, after we texted them and got a reply, they denied there were bedbugs, saying they'd checked and found none. They also denied our calls, though we have proof. When we asked for a refund, they refused and suggested we were making it all up. We hadn't checked the Google reviews before arriving, but later saw several similar reports.

For the price, it was clean and had what we needed for an overnight stay: a kitchen with a toaster and microwave, plus an outdoor terrace for drinks in the evening or breakfast in the morning. It's close to the city centre and good value.

The price was fair, and the room was clean and comfortable enough for three of us, even though it wasn't very big. Check-in by machine was handy. We were about an eight-minute walk from the centre, in a good area, and there's a big free car park behind the building. Our room faced road noise, and the toilet had an odor from the pipe. Those were the main downsides. The terrace was nice, too.

Self check-in was easy, and the location was great. The rooms cost too much for what you get and look better in the photos. The staff don't speak English or Spanish.
