We stayed in Casa do Alpendre, and it was great. Breakfast was brought right to our guest house, and the staff were very helpful. We also had dinner there one evening, and loved everything from the appetizers through the main course and desserts. The kids were big fans of the swimming pool, and the views of the Douro river are fantastic.

There’s plenty to enjoy here, from the spa and a great massage to the games room and pool with its amazing view over the Douro river. The room was just as expected, and it was quiet enough to rest while still enjoying time in nature with the family. The owner and staff were fantastic. I’d happily return.

The suite wasn't comfortable. The door latch was broken, the mattress smelled of mold, and the kitchen didn't have much equipment. There was no WIFI, and I didn't like seeing several animals kept in cages. Guests also had to follow a lot of rules. Getting there by car was difficult too, since Google didn't know Via Panoramica and sent us down a steep dirt trail.

The place itself is amazing, and the staff are super friendly. I'd gladly recommend it, and it was one of the best places I've stayed in the Douro region. My only reason for not giving five stars is dinner. It wasn't a bad meal, but I think the cooking could be better and the place should have a proper chef. With the region and the quality of nearby restaurants, there's room to improve.
