Getting here takes a bit of effort since this large holiday rental is in a quiet spot off the beaten track, but it was well worth it, even on two wheels, as I was. I stayed in the annex to the main house, which had a kitchen and dining area, an ensuite bedroom, and another bedroom I didn’t need. It was clean, comfortable, and excellent value. The pool looked inviting, though the weather was too cold for me to try it. The owner made sure everything was as it should be and was a good source of information about things to see and do in Portugal. I really enjoyed my stay and recommend the place.

Waking with the sunrise and birdsong, picking a sweet, juicy orange from the garden tree for breakfast, then relaxing surrounded by nature are some of the lovely simple pleasures here. Casa do Colipo is a hidden treasure in a beautiful natural setting, offering basic comfort. It’s a different kind of place where you can rediscover things you may have lost touch with. The owner is a brilliant mind, a PhD physicist turned data scientist who enjoys philosophical discussions. Ask him about AI, the future of human relationships, or humanity’s destiny, and he’ll keep you talking for hours.

We’ve been traveling all around Portugal, and this was the first place where the price and quality felt like a perfect match. We had everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay and felt fully refreshed after a long drive. The hotel sits in a paradise among grape plantations, with a charming garden and a clean pool. Everything feels made with care for guests. The kitchen is fully equipped, and we cooked potatoes and salads there. It all went beyond expectations. I recommend it to all kinds of travelers.

The host was very rude. While we were staying in the house, he wanted to do work such as replacing the garden grass and said I could be charged more than €600 if anything went wrong. We had told him about our dog when booking, and he had accepted, but because of the new grass he chose to put in at that time, the dog couldn’t walk or play freely. I had to contact Airbnb support to get him away from the property and report everything about his behavior. The host mentioned there were lots of flies during the day but said nothing about mosquitoes at night, even though the two upstairs bedroom windows were unlocked and insects could easily get in. The pool only had products for two days. We also had no gas for a few hours, and it only came back after we asked someone else, the host’s worker, to check it. The same thing happened with the electricity.
