Maria`s Guesthouse

I can't understand all the positive feedback. Maria s guesthouse is in a bad neighbourhood. When we arrived, an older woman opened the door but didn't speak English. Inside, everything looked outdated and smelled of dogs. We left straight away.

The owner Paolo was very friendly and flexible. He let us check in at 10 pm and welcomed us with a drink. The house is cozy and full of character, with lots of thoughtful little details, and it's just a stone's throw from the castle. All the rooms have air conditioning. Breakfast was scrumptious, better than some big hotels. We'd love to come back to Maria’s guesthouse.

We were so lucky to find this lovely, peaceful guesthouse when our transport broke down and we urgently needed somewhere for ourselves and our two dogs. Maria and her son Paulo welcomed us kindly at 9 pm. They gave us a glass of port, and the little courtyard was beautiful and calm. The breakfast was another wonderful surprise. We hadn't had a chance to read the reviews about the amazing morning spread, and there was so much food they needed a second table. We're so grateful they turned what could have been a disastrous visit to Beja into a delight. Thank you both for your hospitality and your quirky, cosy hideaway.

Such a comfortable guesthouse, with quirky, cool decor, a lovely courtyard, and shared living space. There were complimentary cakes and drinks too. Breakfast was out of this world.
