The staff were lovely and the location was excellent, but I wouldn't make this my first choice for a stay in Braga. The whole place felt like a budget hostel where the attitude was that the basics were good enough for the price. The bunk beds creaked and wobbled, the kitchen was a mess and poorly equipped when I needed it, and there were only two toilets for everyone.

The service was nice and the location's great, but seriously, run away. The room was stuffy and smelly, with no window, and I came away with bites that were probably from bedbugs. I hate leaving this kind of review, but that's what happened. The low price doesn't make it worth it. Run away!

We had headphones disappear overnight from the shared dorm, so keep valuables in the lockers and don't leave them out. The guest house does provide lockers, but the incident still made me wary. Otherwise, the dorms were clean and practical, with individual lockers and charging points, and the shared kitchen and bathrooms were kept very clean. Staff were courteous and attentive. Barão 35 Guest House is affordable and right in Braga's historic centre. Braga Cathedral, the Garden of Santa Bárbara and Rua do Souto, with its cafés, shops and cultural spots, are all walkable. It's a convenient place to stay if you want basic facilities and easy access to the city's main sights.

A decent hostel, and there are power outlets in the bathrooms. The armchair on one of the upper floors needs replacing. The bunk beds are the bigger problem though, they're so unsteady that you feel every movement from the person in the top bunk while you're below.

The staff were nice, but the place itself has limited facilities and some really bad guests. At 5am, a rude English man stood right outside my door talking loudly on his phone. I complained, and he still wouldn't stop. Rudest person I've ever seen. The toilets were unbelievably disgusting, with people regularly peeing on the seat. It was worse than a train toilet. I couldn't sit down, and had to clean the seat every time. Also, the entrance is hard to spot because it's actually inside a shoe store.
