Flag Hotel Braga

The hotel is close to the city center, so it was easy to get around, and parking was always available. The room had plenty of space for us, and everything was perfect. It was all clean and tidy, the staff were lovely, and breakfast was very good. A wonderful hotel.

We'd been staying in inexpensive hotels around here for the past four days, and this was the cheapest but also the best. It was very clean, and had things you'd expect at a North American hotel, like free shampoo, an ice machine, a shoe buffer, and enough outlets to charge our devices. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. The front desk and restaurant staff were extremely friendly. Sure, it's not a five-star hotel, but for the price, it's well worth it.

The room was spacious and functional, and the noise was manageable. Parking was free, though the hotel is far from the city. Breakfast was good, and the staff were great, very kind people. It's good value for the price, whether you're here for a short vacation or stopping to rest on the way to your final destination.

The area is awkward for getting around on foot, despite having train and bus access, though the city centre is only a short taxi ride away. The building and rooms feel tired and overdue for renovation. During our three-night stay, the chemical cleaner smell was so strong it lingered on my clothes for days. Things mostly worked, but just barely: in another room, staff had to use wire to get a colleague out after the bathroom door locked, and some shower-baths leaked onto the floor. I had no bathroom trouble in my own room. Service was fine, nothing special. Breakfast was basic, with decent fruit but no fresh vegetables, which I missed. It may have been a three-star hotel when it opened in 1995, but it needs a full renovation to feel like one now.
