Hotel Vila Galé Collection Braga

The old Catholic Hospital's architecture is breathtaking, and the location is excellent. Service was great, with very friendly staff, and breakfast was high quality. Watching the cooks make omelettes or fried eggs in front of you was a treat, especially the Brazilian guy. The spa was the letdown for us: the pool was very cold, and the Buddhist and Hindu statues and pictures felt completely out of place in an ancient Catholic building, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. I wish they'd remove them.

Stayed 22/01/26. The hotel was nice, but the rooms had no kettle unless you asked for one. We also got just one bottle of water, then had to pay for more. Small things like this cost very little to provide.

The hotel's history blends nicely with its modern facilities and artwork, and it's very well located for enjoying Braga. Breakfast was good, though busy, and the bar was well appointed despite its odd mix of colours. Staff were consistently helpful. It's become one of the more memorable parts of our holiday, and I'd definitely recommend it.

We booked this because it was advertised online as a spa hotel, but I wouldn't stay here again. We asked the spa about a couples massage called “Moment for Two” for EUR 200 on our checkout day. We said we'd confirm only if reception could give us late checkout, since we wanted to use the room for 40 minutes after the massage, around 13:30, just an hour and a half past the normal checkout time. Reception said they couldn't promise late checkout and could only confirm it that day, depending on availability, while also reminding us checkout was by noon. We'd have cancelled then if we hadn't already paid. Also, the indoor pool has only two water features, and one wasn't working. Check carefully before booking this chain if you care about service or a customer-friendly stay.
