Casa de Encosturas

The owners were very kind and attentive, and the terrace outside was a lovely, relaxing spot. Across the road there’s a very clean, well-kept pool, with a rose garden behind it, rosemary around it, green grass, and a river right beside it. The house is generally good, but it has more potential. From the photos, we expected to use a large house, but in reality our part was only about 20% of it: two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a small attic converted into a living room, kitchen, and games room. It all feels squeezed into one space, and the billiard table makes it feel smaller still. Having to cross the road to reach the pool and having the barbecue so far from the house were drawbacks. Another barbecue on the terrace would make sense. Pets are allowed, but they can’t go into the bedrooms or pool, which disappointed us a bit. In the end, the biggest shortcoming was the limited space. Thanks, and regards.

The owners were so friendly and available that we felt right at home. Casa de Encosturas was exceptionally quiet and peaceful, the kind of atmosphere that’s hard to find these days. It’s an excellent place to stay in Cabeceiras de Basto and a good base for seeing nearby spots like Braga and Guimarães. We’ll definitely return.

I spent a few days there with friends, and the staff were really helpful. 10/10, I recommend it if you want a few days to relax.

A great welcome at this peaceful spot, ideal for a weekend or a short getaway. There’s Wi-Fi, a pool, barbecue, billiards, and a kitchenette. A clear-water river runs right alongside the property. Maximum relaxation.
