Cantinho Rural

We stayed in House #2, which was very comfortable, with a proper kitchen for making our own meals. The fireplace made evenings especially cozy. A beautiful levada runs close by, so you can spend hours walking through the forest and enjoying the wild scenery. The place is beautifully cared for, with flowers everywhere, birds singing all day, and a peaceful feeling throughout. You can tell a lot of heart has gone into it. I left feeling recharged, and it's one of the loveliest places I've ever visited. I'd absolutely recommend it if you want to reconnect with nature.

In the mornings, the shower water was simply cold, which was the main problem for me. It's heated by solar panels, and I assume there's no battery, so it can be very hot in the evening instead. The interior was quite clean and the beds were decent, though I found the pillows flat and uncomfortable. The houses sit above a beautiful, wooded valley, but they're some distance from a major city. That may suit some people.

Cantinho Rural in Camacha was a wonderfully quiet place to spend three weeks. Most of what you hear is nature, the wind, birds, and sometimes a sheep calling in the distance. A resident cat that purrs constantly may come by too, which made the place feel even more like paradise. The four houses are spread across a large, beautifully planted property and are lovingly furnished and maintained, with everything needed to cater for yourself. Paula, Pablo, and their helpful team look after the houses and grounds, and are ready to help if anything comes up. Lina arranged our arrival in advance over WhatsApp, and Paula and Pablo gave us such a warm welcome. It was our first holiday on Madeira's green, varied island, but it certainly won't be our last. A great place to unwind from everyday stress.

I love having all that outdoor space, and had such a fun time there with my family and friends. It's so peaceful and feels like a home away from home. There are plenty of lovely places to eat and visit nearby, and Funchal is only about 20 minutes away. Still, you could happily spend days just relaxing around the cottage. ❤️
