Pestana Fisherman Village

The Levada walks are undoubtedly one of Madeira’s best experiences, and our stay at The Pestana Fisherman Village Hotel was great too. It’s right in the village center, convenient for local bars and restaurants. One evening there was music playing in the street, so be aware of that. Driving on Madeira can be hairy, but the nearby paid parking worked fine for us, even if some locals were a bit too helpful while we parked. My wife and I really enjoyed the stay. The staff were attentive, especially Sofie at reception, who welcomed us warmly and shared plenty of useful suggestions for our time in Madeira.

The hotel is cozy and elegant, with a lovely design, friendly and helpful staff, a comfortable bed, and a nice view of the yard. It’s in a cute fishing village, and there’s a supermarket nearby. Breakfast is great, and you can pay a little extra for a special omelette request. There’s also a nice pool table. I’d recommend the viewpoint next to the hotel, overlooking the beach. Parking nearby cost around 2 euros an hour and is free from 20:00 to 8:00. That was the main downside for me, though it wasn’t too bad since we were out travelling most of the day. The hotel could use a bar or coffee service, as most cafes close in the evening or are a few minutes’ walk away.

This lovely hotel is in a spectacular location and feels more like a resort. Everything was just what I’d expect from a four-star hotel. Mariana Silva greeted us at reception and was friendly, informative, and happy to answer all our questions. Housekeeping did a good job whenever they came to the room, leaving it how we wanted. Breakfast had a good range of options, and I’ve never tasted fruit so fresh and sweet. A great experience, highly recommended!

Breakfast was my personal highlight. Everything came in tiny versions, so I didn’t have to choose and could try everything each day. The Natas were super delicious. The hotel is beautiful and close to the water in Camâra de Lobos, with a few different restaurants right outside. There’s a rooftop pool, a nice spot to read and relax. I highly recommend it.
