Toca dos Lobos - Ecological Cabin

Dinner was magical: we got to try new food while the waiter played guitar, and our eldest daughter joined in with a set of her own songs. A really proud moment. We ended the meal with coffee and honey brandy. We'd booked three rooms through trip advisor. All were of an excellent standard, though fairly basic, and the welcome was really friendly.

There was no problem bringing our dog, even though we hadn't told them ahead of time. The staff were really kind, and we had a tasty dinner from the cheap guest menu. Breakfast was good too. The room was a bit warm without air conditioning, but it was 40°C outside, so that was normal.

Quintinha D'Arga is a cozy, inviting restaurant, with rustic decor and soft lighting that made for an intimate, relaxed evening. We enjoyed the Minho flavours on the menu. The dishes were thoughtfully made with fresh local ingredients, and the care and culinary skill came through in every bite. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the service had its own pace. This isn't suited to a fast dinner with friends; you're expected to take your time and savour the meal. From the warm welcome to the food and atmosphere, the experience exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a meal in a charming setting.

A local recommended this family restaurant, but I wouldn't suggest eating here. They brought tasty blood sausage, bread and olives at the start and charged us for them without asking. That's typical in Portugal, apparently. When we tried to order just one entree, we were basically told no, so we ordered two. Don't be fooled by the cod for two at 20 euros: one serving is enough for two people and costs only 9 euros. There isn't much value here. Everything is overpriced, and eating in a big city is actually cheaper.
