Quinta da Paz

A beautiful garden, barbecue area, sea-view pool, private parking and laundry all added to the experience. The rooms were clean, the design cozy, and the staff friendly. It felt like staying in a modern hotel set inside a classical building, with little details inside and out that kept impressing us each day. I felt a bit like a wealthy landowner or merchant from the 18th century. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed, and I strongly recommend it to everyone.

We spent our first half in Funchal and the second half here, and really enjoyed the relaxed feel and how clean everything was. Patricia met us on arrival and gave us a short list of simple instructions. Our sea view room was well designed and proportioned, perfect for two, though it could fit four if two people are happy with a sofa bed. The pool is small, but just right after a long, hot day. The Wi-Fi was intermittent, and our oven didn’t work. The location worked well for buses to the seafront pools and restaurants, with just a short walk up to town. We regularly took the 155 bus to Funchal, €2.20 each way, while taxis averaged €20 each way. Next time, we’d probably stay closer to the coastline.

The place was exceptionally well kept, with a lovely, comfortable setting. Waking up to sunshine every day made it feel even better than being at home. A wonderful experience, and thanks to everyone who made it so good.

As soon as we drove in, the place had a real movie-set feel. The pool, flowers, and trees were all beautiful.
