A Casa Amarela

The area is lovely, with places to eat even at night, and the sunrise from the window is worth setting an alarm for. Our sea-view house had a beautiful garden for walks and barbecues, though it was a surprise that the photos didn't show it. There was also a terrace with a table and chairs, and the house had everything we needed. They even supplied umbrellas and rain gear for heading out in bad weather. Cars, motorcycles, and dogs could make nights noisy if you're not used to them, so earplugs, music, or closed curtains might help.

The laundry room had a much-appreciated dryer, and there was plenty of private parking. I stayed in the largest of the three apartments, in a lovely traditional house that was well kept and furnished nicely. The shower curtain and the cockroach problem could use attention. I never found any cockroaches inside, thankfully, but at night there were lots outside.

There's plenty of room for a group or family, and it's about 10 km from town. The little grocery sells fantastic traditional levedo bread. A welcoming place, with an appealing mix of old and modern in the house.

The person in charge gave us a very friendly welcome and some local products to try. The house itself is cozy and has what you need for a short break. A few things bothered me: the road right outside brings car noise, roosters crowed all night, and there were some cockroaches. Still, I had a very pleasant stay.
