Art 4 You Carcavelos Suites

I was only here for one night, so I’ll keep this brief. The beach is just minutes away, which is a great location. My room felt like its decor was stuck in the late 90s, and the walls were so thin I could hear through them. I did like having a little balcony opening onto the courtyard, where I could smoke. Breakfast was offered, but the cured meats put me off trying it. I arrived quite late and a nice younger Chinese national, possibly the manager, greeted me. The Portuguese woman at reception was pleasant too. I suspect the hotel may be run by a Chinese owner. It feels like a mansion converted into shared accommodation to make as much money as possible, with little attention to branding or design. Having stayed around the world, I can usually tell sincerity from a money grab. For the price, this felt overpriced and could have been better. They seem to rely on the location. I’d put some money into renovations and branding.

Friendly, helpful staff, a good breakfast, and restaurants close by. You can walk to the beach from here. Recommend.

We stayed at the Art 4 You while helping my daughter move in for her semester abroad, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. There were three of us in a large room with a bunk bed and a queen bed. The breakfast room was cute, with lots of good hot and cold choices. We used the shared kitchen, which had what we needed to warm up leftovers. It rained every day, so we didn’t explore the neighborhood much, but the beach seems walkable in better weather. We could see the sea from our window. It was just what we needed.

I spent a long time searching before finding this place, and it was a great choice for our two nights. Our room was 007(maya angelou), part of a setup where every room is named after a famous writer or celebrity. It had a small patio with a table and chairs by the entrance. Inside, the room was perfect: private toilet, a nice shower, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body gel and a hairdryer. The pillows were comfortable, and there was a coffee machine with capsules you could ask for at no charge, plus a tea maker. Breakfast runs from 8:30 to 10:30 and was wonderful, with everything you need and more than we have at home. You can eat in the breakfast room or outside in the garden, where they set out tables. There’s also a playground that my two loved, and a big pool. The place is enclosed all around, so I didn’t have to worry about the kids going out. The kitchen is BEAUTIFUL, and you can cook there and keep your things in the fridge if you’d rather not spend € eating at restaurants. The beach is a 2 mints walk in line. They also provide free water bottles and a welcome drink, with other drinks available at good prices. It’s a 20-room guest house with excellent staff. Sara-the manager was super profissional, and her team were SUPER friendly and always ready to help. I’ll definitely come back. Thank you Art 4 you!
