Mirachoro Carvoeiro

The second room was nice, and we enjoyed the view much more. At first, they said a room change wasn't possible because they were "full," but that wasn't the case and they did move us. Our first room faced the parking lot and was very noisy. They also didn't want to give us extra towels, which seems strange for a 4-star hotel. They don't provide water either, and a bottle cost $4 euros every day.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a handy spot, with good restaurants nearby, about ten minutes on foot from the beach and five minutes by the shorter route to the Algar Seco rocks. The rooms and shared areas, including the pool, lounge and bar, were clean and looked after well. Staff were helpful and lovely to chat with.

The location was great, and the food and drinks were very reasonably priced, cheaper than in the UK. We also enjoyed the local wine and port. The lounge and bar spaces were fabulous, and the sunbeds were great. Everything was clean, the linen was lovely, and the food was good. The staff were even better, always cheerful and ready to help. That cliff-top boardwalk is close by and makes a lovely stroll into the town centre. There are also so many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby that choosing one can be hard. The pool terrace is spacious, with plenty of loungers and enough shade from the trees if you want it. My room was large, very clean, and had a great balcony. Thanks to Silvia for keeping it that way and changing the towels each day. There was lots of wardrobe storage, and the shower got properly hot with strong pressure. The little fridge could hold three 1.5-litre water bottles, though that left little space for anything else. Breakfast, served daily from 8 to 11 am, was a real highlight during my two-week stay at the Mirachoro. There was a huge range, from fresh fruit, cereals, cold meats, bread and cheese to boiled, fried or scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. I loved the pastries, especially the pastel de nata with coffee. My usual fruit bowl was mango, papaya, kiwi, strawberry and peach with granola and honey straight from the honey frame. Romulus in the restaurant deserves a special mention too. He was pleasant, polite, cheerful, smiling, and exceptionally helpful. The staff were splendid throughout. I’d happily recommend staying here. Well worth it!
