We went yesterday hoping to reserve a villa for what might have been a long stay. My wife and I had a drink in the main restaurant with our small dog in a pushchair, then spoke with the man at reception and were close to booking. When I asked about the dog, he first said dogs weren't allowed anywhere in the hotel. He then offered to arrange for us to eat with our dog in the outdoor restaurant area, which seemed like a sensible compromise. The receptionist and then the Manager overruled him. The hotel is listed as pet-friendly on booking.com, but that wasn't our experience. Dogs aren't allowed anywhere, even a small dog in a trolley, so I suggest avoiding it and asking booking.com to remove that description. We were looking for a place to stay while buying a multi-million € property in the area. The policy and misleading listing have cost the hotel about 3 months of villa revenue, plus our restaurant spending. We won't use any of the hotel's facilities, even though we live nearby. Not allowing dogs up to, say, 10kg seems like poor business. That's the policy at 5 star hotels throughout France, Italy and some in Spain. It seems some Portugese businesses turn away considerable revenue. Strange culture indeed.

The kids loved the pool, playground, and kids club, which costs 12€ per hour. The villas are definitely worth recommending, and the breakfast each day was fantastic, so don't miss it. An Uber to or from Cascais was €5.

We had a cozy, modern place inside, even though the villas don't look impressive from outside. The fireplace and terrace were particular favorites. We had a fully equipped kitchen, appliances, a washer, broom, mop, and basic cleaning supplies, so we didn't need to rely on housekeeping. They came 1-2 times a week, which suited us perfectly. We like privacy and don't enjoy someone knocking every day, and it felt like staying at home. The gardeners were friendly, and we made friends with some of the cats that wandered around. Our favorite was the black tomcat who kept visiting. I can't say how much we miss him. We came back to the villas twice to look for him, but didn't find him. We stayed for a month. It was really expensive, especially for Portugal, and we probably wouldn't have stayed here otherwise, but my husband's employer paid for it. There were a few things we didn't like, but after such an enjoyable month, they don't seem worth mentioning. I was satisfied and would recommend the villa. If I could, I'd live here.

Once you're settled, this is a beautiful, comfortable place for a family stay. It's well equipped for cooking or keeping a few snacks, and there are nearby restaurants and delivery options. The WiFi worked well, even for my son doing his online college courses while we traveled. It's peaceful and rural, just what you'd want for some quiet. A car is definitely recommended since walking options are limited. You can walk, but places aren't close and there aren't sidewalks. The villas are a hike from the hotel, not just across the street. Parking is limited, and the paths look rustic and can get quite muddy in the rain. They're not heavily landscaped, and people with difficulty walking may struggle to reach villas further back. Check-in was welcoming, and we were shown how to get to the villas. They weren't too hard to find if you followed the map they gave us and used Google Maps too. I'd definitely stay again.

For 300 euro a night, you can find somewhere better. The interior was okay, with decent furniture, beds, sheets, a kitchen, and bathrooms, which is the reason for the 3 stars. Getting there was another story. Check-in at the main hotel was easy, but the directions to the villas were very confusing and the villas were hard to find. Our key cards didn't work, and we got in only because a cleaner was next door and let us in. Outside, there was bare dirt and dead grass, with no landscaping. The villas looked like unmaintained houses in south central LA, window bars and all. Dog cages were scattered around the property too. The wifi didn't work, and I told the front desk several times.
