Octant Douro

The indoor pool was a real highlight, with a great view and the most comfortable poolside beds I’ve ever tried. We also loved the cozy places around the hotel to sit with coffee, and hot drinks could be ordered almost anywhere. The whole property feels inviting, with beautiful views all around. We booked a Riverview room, and it was perfect. The view was spectacular, and the thoughtful, luxurious details in the room stood out. There are two outdoor pools, one on the 10th floor with a fantastic panoramic view that seems ideal for summer, and another on a lower floor with lovely scenery. I heard the lower pool is warmer, but didn’t try it because the weather was cool and cloudy. On our first night, we were given a sleep kit with pillow mist, an eye mask, and earplugs. It was a small gesture that showed how much they care about guests and the quality of their stay. The staff were incredibly kind, and the service was excellent from beginning to end. Honestly, one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in, and I’d highly recommend it for a couple or a family.

The surroundings are beautiful, and the relaxed atmosphere makes this a lovely place for families. We had a magical stay at Octant Douro, with a very friendly, welcoming team. Bernardo looked after us so well throughout. We can’t wait to return.

Raiva was the standout for us. The prix fixe menu blew us away, and the food across the property was excellent. The breakfast buffet was the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, and all the pools were fantastic, each with its own feel. The team were welcoming, kind, and quick to help with requests. Our rooms were serene, with gorgeous views, and the property’s one-of-a-kind architecture blends its luxurious interiors beautifully with the surrounding nature. This may be the greatest hotel I’ve visited. I’ll find an excuse to come back and relive the getaway.

I only wish I’d stayed longer. The steam circuit at the spa was incredible and made for such a relaxing visit. Breakfast was excellent each morning, with lots of variety and warm, attentive service throughout. I spent two nights at Octant Douro, and my River View room was stunning. Waking up to that view was a highlight, and the whole property feels beautifully designed, serene, and luxurious. It’s a place that stays with you after leaving, and I’ll definitely return.
