Monte da Lagoa

We spent four months here over the winter in a two-bedroom cottage with a fireplace. The owners were lovely and did their best to make us comfortable. They also provided an electric heater, so keeping warm wasn't a problem, and electricity was included in the price. The village shops and restaurants, as well as the beach, were a short walk away. The accommodation had everything we needed and felt typically Portuguese. It's a unique place, and we can imagine it being lovely in summer too. Thank you, Pilar, Fatima and family, for your hospitality and a wonderful stay.

Pilar is a kind, helpful person who made us feel we were in good company. The houses are nicely decorated, cozy, and spacious enough for kids. It's a lovely, well-run place for a quiet stay, with essential things nearby. I'd highly recommend it.

We felt snug indoors by a real fire, and there were lots of spots outside to enjoy nature. Pilar has put so much thought into creatively converting her grandfather's home while keeping its authentic character. Her quirky collections of finds from the feira's add to the interest.

My place was simple and clean, and the nearby beach was nice. I'd suggest having a car. Pilar and her family were lovely hosts and treated me very well.
