Linhares is a beautiful, restful place, and the hotel has lovely grounds and decoration, a clean swimming pool, and a very complete breakfast. The rooms are beautiful, the beds and pillows are fine, and everything is spotless. The location is quiet. The bar serves good sandwiches and toasts as an alternative to a restaurant. A few things could be improved: staff could speak better English, restaurant meals or taxi service to restaurants would help, and the rooms need more electrical sockets and working hairdryers. The shower needs better water pressure and a way to secure the showerhead to the wall.

It was a wonderful experience wandering the streets of Linhares da Beira. The village location beside a stunning castle, peaceful grounds and pools, and the thick ancient granite around the room windows all made the stay feel special. But I could feel every bed spring, and the walk from reception to the rooms was so long it felt like a three-star drawback. I landed somewhere in the middle with my rating.

The views from this hotel are amazing, and Linhares is a lovely little place built from local stone. There’s just one restaurant and one cafe, but both serve good food and have friendly staff. The hotel layout means plenty of walking, though it’s worth it. Go and enjoy it!

The restored buildings near the castle are beautiful, and the rural setting is picturesque. My room was comfortable and well furnished, but the hand shower had no wall mount, which made showering awkward. Breakfast is why I’m giving it three stars: there was a nice range of bread, but little meat or cheese, no muesli or granola, no fresh juice, poor Nescafé, and tinned fruit salad.

The satay was the best I’ve had. We spent a few days in Linhares last August, and the hotel staff were fantastic, professional, and helped us feel at home. I felt safe and welcome, and the pandemic rules were easy to follow with their help.
