Fresh blueberries, fresh air, and amazing views across the river valley. It’s a relaxed place to stay, with day trips nearby, village sounds, and lovely people. There’s a pool and a bar where you keep track of what you take. The mountain roads are narrow and challenging to drive, but the stay is well worth it.

We wished we’d booked more time here. The quinta sits on narrow roads, but there are plenty of good places to visit, so it works well as a base for a few days. Without question, it was our best stay in Portugal. The views over the Douro Valley are magnificent, and our rooms for two couples were comfortable with lovely outlooks. We made good use of the pool and guest spaces, and breakfast was excellent. Vincente and Lurdes made us feel completely at home, and Lurdes shared great suggestions for places to visit. They don’t serve dinner, but the lovely cheese platter and extras meant we didn’t need to head out. There’s also a nice selection of wines at reasonable prices.

The house is beautiful, tastefully decorated, and has everything you need to enjoy the countryside and wine farms nearby. Vince and his wife were incredibly generous, kind, and helpful, especially when our rental vehicle became a nightmare and the situation was frustrating. I highly recommend staying with them.
