We only stayed one night, and it was a good one. The location is great, there’s free underground parking, and the atmosphere is relaxed. Dinner from the buffet had plenty of choice and was very good, including a chef at the griddle if you fancied something different. The wine was good quality and not overpriced, and staff were attentive without hovering. We had to book a time slot for the indoor pool, which we hadn’t come across elsewhere, but it wasn’t a problem and keeps it from getting overcrowded. I only spotted later in the evening that you can ask for a coffee machine in the room. We would have requested one at check-in if we’d known.

The bathroom seemed recently renovated, with a roomy walk-in shower and everything in great condition. The toiletries were very good quality too. My room was spotless, modern, and well cared for. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff had already noted all my requests and took care of them. It’s a little pricey, but I felt the stay was worth it. Highly recommended.

The pool was a highlight, quiet and well looked after, a lovely place to unwind after walking around the city. The restaurant was very good too, with a nice range of food and a pleasant feel to it. Hotel NH Coimbra Dona Inês is close enough to get into Coimbra center easily, while still being far enough away for a calm, quiet stay. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with big windows that let in lots of light. The staff were consistently welcoming and helpful. It felt like a dependable, comfortable choice for either work or a holiday, and I left with a very good impression. I’d come back.

There were three proper single beds, and the welcome sweets were a nice touch. That’s about where the positives ended. The toilet was dirty, with hair and feces, the shower wasn’t sanitary, and we later found blood stains on the lower duvet sheets that weren’t visible at first. In a 4-star hotel, basic hygiene should be there. Sweets and artificial fragrance don’t make up for it.

The old town is about a ten-minute walk away, with cafes and restaurants nearby. The hotel sits just off the main road by the river, and the rooms are well equipped. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is excellent. Staff were quick to help, friendly, and helpful.
