I’ve stayed in many hotels, B&Bs, private homes and apartments in this area since 1987, and this is the best place I’ve found. Caminho Alegre is a wonderful spot in the woods, surrounded by the Sintra-Cascais nature reserve. Cork oak, cedar and eucalyptus fill the air with a fresh scent, and lovely birdsong adds to the feeling of being in a lush oasis. The accommodations are spacious, fully equipped, well furnished and tastefully decorated. The pool stays clean and refreshing, tucked into an abundant tropical garden. Our hosts were warm, genuinely friendly and very helpful, in that lovely Portuguese way. The location makes it easy to reach all sorts of places, with frequent, inexpensive buses as well. You can get to beautiful beaches, Sintra, Colares, Galamares, Cabo da Roca, Cascais, Lisbon, and the many palaces and parks. One tip: visit the tree fern valley in Parque da Pena. Come here to relax and enjoy yourself.

A very nice, cozy and clean house in a natural paradise. The host was friendly and helpful. For a longer stay, a washing machine and somewhere to hang laundry could be useful. Recommended.

The area is great, and the rooms are beautiful. Cabo da Roca and the Sintra Castles are nearby, and there are forests close by for hiking. Diogo was a very friendly host, and I’d definitely return. A few things could be improved. Check-in and checkout would be smoother with a way to pick up and leave the keys. Diogo wasn’t around when I checked out, so I had to find the cleaner to hand them over. The GPS coordinates also need updating, since many navigation apps lead to the wrong house. If you’re being dropped off, you may have to walk a few minutes up the road to reach the actual place. The One Bedroom house could use a TV like the other house has, as well as a fan for the summer.

The hosts were so kind and quick to respond, and the house itself is lovely. It’s peaceful here, with beautiful surroundings, but still close to everything you need. We’ve already come back once and will definitely book again :)

Step outside and you’re met with the coast, hills, and lots of green. The house has everything you need, and the whole setting feels quiet, idyllic, and a little magical. 5/5, we’ll be back to explore more!
