Oasis Backpackers Hostel Sintra Surf

I stayed in May and still think about this place because I loved it. It’s a relaxing spot in nature, near the beach and Sintra’s magical forests. I booked surf and yoga classes through the hostel, which were a fun way to meet people while travelling solo. There are plenty of families, but I also met great young travellers. We played cards at the bar and watched the sunset at the beach. The vibe was lovely. There’s a kitchen with a gas stove, microwave, and fridge, plus a small supermarket, lots of food spots, a beach volleyball court, hammocks, and wooden sunbathing platforms. The açaí bowls and woodfired pizza are a must! The receptionists were a bit disorganized, though extremely friendly. It’s remote without a car, but the buses were surprisingly good. Rooms were simple and clean, and the price was amazing. 🌟

Really friendly staff, and I had a great stay. The place has a campsite feel, with shared seating outside the hostel building and a communal kitchen. I could choose from loads of food trucks, plus a craft beer stand, which I didn’t expect in such a small town. I locked my bike to the wooden fence on the decking, though there’s also a bike stand in the car park.

I really enjoyed the Aldea-style setup, with bars, restaurants, hammocks, and open areas where guests can spend time together. It feels welcoming and works well for families with kids, friend groups, and solo travellers alike. I’d definitely come back.

We had a really enjoyable two-night stop on our road trip around Portugal, and we’d come back. The beach is close, and the lounges, yoga studios, and public bathrooms were all very nice. There are food trucks and a pizza oven on site, and the pizza was fantastic. One restaurant, Nomads, had strange hours and rude staff, so I’d avoid it. The reception was a little hard to find, though the workers were lovely. Our room was clean, but I did spot a stain on my sheets. You have to bring your own toilet paper, and the shower doesn’t drain properly. Those were my only real complaints.
