The grounds and scenery were lovely, and the pool has a great view too. We stayed in the Perdiz house, which was comfortable, with a stunning outlook. The part I remember most was spotting a Sorraia horse out in the fields and having it come over to us.

The cottages had plenty of room and everything we needed for a short break. Even when the evenings got chilly, the heating and fireplace worked well. We were there during the Golegã Horse Fair, and found ourselves right in the middle of a working farm. The people on site were easy to chat with, though I would have liked to meet the family who own the place and hear more about its history. There’s a free electric buggy to explore the property at set times, and you can arrange a riding introduction or a longer ride through the hills. The kids’ playground, with its natural wood and traditional activities, was a hit, and there’s also a pool beside a pleasant grassy area. We had a really nice stay at Monte do Areeiro.

A very pleasant weekend in nature, on a huge 800h property.

The houses are roomy, comfortable and nicely decorated, and there’s a huge area to explore and enjoy. We made the most of nearly everything Monte do Areeiro offers, and it worked really well for a family. The staff were friendly and ready to help, and it’s a peaceful spot that’s easy to reach. The pool wasn’t operating, though, some equipment needs replacing, and a few outdoor areas could use more care. I’d still recommend it.

The people at the farm were so warm and welcoming, and the house was lovely and spotless. We could all relax there, including the dogs, who felt just as comfortable as we did. There are some one-of-a-kind little details, and the outdoor space is fantastic. I loved it, a great place to unwind and recharge.
