Amar Hostel, Suites & Surf Camp

A friendly surf hostel in an old Portuguese house, with roomy bedrooms and a really tasty breakfast. The staff were helpful and tried to make things work for everyone, including having breakfast ready after the morning surf class. The surf lessons were good too. You can walk to the center or central beaches in under five minutes. Would recommend.

We stayed as a family at Amar Hostel & Suites. The garden and rooftop terrace are nice, and the location made it easy to walk to the beach and local restaurants. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. We also found the shared kitchen well equipped and useful for making meals. Street noise at night was a downside, and the room may feel small for some families. Still, it’s a good choice for a short stay.

I stayed for many weeks after trying several other hostels and hotels in town, and I wish I didn’t have to leave. There’s loads of room to work, relax, or cook, plus a huge garden where you can hang out instead of being stuck in your room. The staff were sweet, welcoming, and happy to accommodate us, and I met lots of lovely travelers. Everything in town is walkable. There’s an outdoor shower and plenty of room for surfboards and wetsuits. For the room, the space, and the location, it’s great value. Best hostel or hotel in Ericeira.

The rooms were very clean and the service was warm and attentive. It’s a lovely, welcoming hostel in a great spot if you’re after some peace and quiet. I’d definitely come back.
