Gundi House

I came to Portugal for the first time hoping to surf a little and get some sun. After a week at Gundi House, I left surfed out and with a bunch of great new friends. Rodrigo is a fantastic host who helps create the friendly, relaxed vibe there, and the house feels like home, right by some of Europe’s best waves. I’m going to miss the breakfast, and the 1 am pasta after disco dancing with everyone from the house. What an unforgettable week. Can’t wait to come back.

I arrived on my own, but never felt alone, and couldn’t have hoped for anything better. The house is quiet, clean, and spacious, with a lovely terrace where I watched several ocean sunsets. It’s well placed for the beach, surf spots, and restaurants. Rodrigo, the host, and Rafaela, the volunteer, are kind, polite, and helpful without ever being intrusive. Rodrigo’s also a great surf and skateboard instructor. I learned to surf in just a few hours with him, so take the chance to have lessons and enjoy yourself. I spent three weeks here and was never bored, between surfing, yoga, nights out, barbecues with the other guests, and hiking. I’ll definitely be back soon. Thanks for everything, Rodrigo and Rafaela.

Gundi House is a wonderful place to spend some time, away from the noise of big cities. Being close to such beautiful sunsets makes it all the harder to leave something nice behind. You’ll be glad you came.

After nearly two months in Ericeira and stays at different hostels, I know Gundi house is the place I’ll keep coming back to. It feels like home now. The balcony has a beautiful view, and the house is in a quiet neighborhood near two beaches, Coxos and San Lorenço. Rodrigo, the owner, is kind and polite without being intrusive, and Rafaela, the volunteer, is very sweet and helpful.
