Residencial Espinho

Avoid this awful hotel. We booked by phone five days ahead, but when we arrived there was no reservation under our name. At 7:30 PM in Espinho, finding a room for five was a close call. The air was thick with dust, with carpet everywhere, and the beds reeked of tobacco. If you don't smoke, it’s horrible, and the smell was nauseating the next morning too. We had to ask for bath towels. The bathroom had no light and its door wouldn't close. There were wires dangling from what seemed like substandard electrical work, and the walls felt like cardboard. A rug covered a hole in the floor. The website photos didn't match what we found at all. We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, but never one like this. It’s shameful. At least the sheets were clean and the receptionist was pleasant. The blankets, though, smelled strongly of dust. Honestly, just keep walking!

We come back regularly and always enjoy our stays. This is a friendly place on Rua 19, right in central Espinho, with excellent service from everyone who works here. The rooms are simple and clean, and breakfast is basic but has what you need.

There’s no heating in the room, and the bathroom has no hot water.

What a disgrace. The photos don't show the truth. The rooms and bathrooms are full of damp, the windows are run down, and everything in this guesthouse is old. I don't recommend it!
