Top.
The coat of arms was granted by King D. João V on 12 November 1743. It is a family heraldic shield on a decorative cartouche, topped by a helmet with a wreath, crest, and plumes. The quartered shield represents I, MACHADO; II, MIRANDA; III, PEREIRA; and IV, VILAS - BOAS. The crest belongs to the Machado family and has a small trifolium. Solar dos Machados has this family coat of arms above the imposing entrance portal to the house of the Machados. It indicates the house belonged to descendants of the Machado, Miranda, Pereyra, and Villas-Boas families, prominent lineages in the municipality and region. In the early 19th century, during the French invasions, the manor served as Soult’s troops’ headquarters.
A beautiful golf course sits on the bank of the Cávado River, which runs around a residential development made up mostly of holiday homes. There’s also a very good restaurant, Senhora Peliteiro.
Excellent facilities, lots of greenery, its own marina, golf, a pool...
