Casa Mozart I

We spent ten days in Madeira in this apartment, which was just right for a couple, and everything went well. Manuela, the owner, was very kind and helpful. Thanks so much, we really enjoyed our stay. The pool was great and available all day, and parking by the house was easy. The kitchen had all the utensils needed to cook. The fridge is small but holds a lot, and even has a freezer, handy for ice cream in summer. There’s a supermarket about a three-minute walk away, and the island’s best cocktail bar, in my opinion, is a 15-minute walk.

The rooms and property were badly maintained, and the rooms were filthy. The host or landlord was absent, and the co-host provided poor service. There was no air conditioning, so the room was extremely hot. The window screen was ineffective and let insects in, making it hard to leave the window open. The bathroom smelled of sewage, and the room door lock didn’t work, which felt unsafe for someone traveling alone. The entrance to the property is on a very dangerous corner. The pool was full of dead insects and leaves, and some Google images don’t match the property, so research it fully before booking. It’s quite far from restaurants and bars, too. Nearby construction noise ran from 8 a.m. until about 7 p.m. Don’t trust the earlier Google reviews.

The owner was really nice. We stayed just one night because it was close to tiki cocktail bar, which is a must-visit. Highly recommend the place, and I’d stay again.

The supermarket is very close, but a tree blocks the sea view and the room wasn’t clean.
