Hotel Quinta Alegre

My friends came from Germany for a six-day hiking tour of the island, and I booked them a double room here. They were very impressed by the hotel and the exceptionally friendly service. They loved the food and the fantastic location, and appreciated the tips on where to go and what to bring, as well as the electric car.

We’ll remember watching the Swifts and Goldfinch’s from the balcony, looking out over the Atlantic. Quinta Alegre is peaceful and quiet, with lovely gardens and pool, and the bar and other hotel facilities were great too. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious, with a balcony and fantastic sea view plus an extra terrace. The food was exceptional. My vegetarian partner was always well catered for, and my meat dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. The chef and Kitchen team are a real asset. Idilia, our waitress, was especially friendly and a real asset to the team. Thank you all for making our Madeira holiday so fantastic.

The manager was friendly and helpful, and the location is wonderful. We were staying nearby and came out for food. The cocktails were very well priced, and despite having a tricky group of diets, with three vegans, the restaurant catered for us off the menu.

We were staying elsewhere and walked over for lunch, a swim, and some time in the grounds. We really enjoyed it. Non-resident guests do have to pay to use the pool, but the fee is very reasonable.
