Casa do Gadanha

We thought it was so good that, six months after our first visit in January, we took a two-hour detour to eat here again. My wife was just as impressed. We tried every appetizer and shared two main dishes, and even though we’re usually picky, we loved it all. It may be the best place on the whole Michelin list. Stop reading reviews and try it yourself!

We’re not usually the sort to spend all day at a hotel, but we didn’t want to leave this one. The room was incredibly spacious, and the food was so good we ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. The dishes were fresh and inventive, all made in house. Breakfast brought freshly baked cinnamon buns, and lunch had the most incredible sourdough and tomatoes with olive oil. We also had the chef’s tasting menu. I can’t recommend this place enough.

The restaurant is lovely, and everyone there is warm and attentive. I had tartare to start, then tuna with grilled cabbage. I passed on the wine and the lovely bread and butter to leave room for the delicious strawberry dessert. It isn’t cheap, and I’m glad about that because it’s meant to feel exclusive. I hope it stays that way and that they keep this level of service. The whole experience was simply perfect.

Everything felt right about this wonderful place. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was excellent too.
